Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Sales and Relationship Representative to join the Paperclip team. In this 1099 contractor role, you’ll be responsible for driving new sales by introducing our products to retailers nationwide. As a key part of our expansion strategy, you will work autonomously to build relationships with retail buyers, manage accounts, and close sales. The ideal candidate will be a passionate sales professional with a proven track record of success in B2B sales, especially within the retail and consumer goods space.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Prospecting: Identify and target new retail clients, including independently-owned local retailers, and online marketplaces.

Product Demos: Showcase Paperclip’s collection of products to prospective clients, clearly communicating product benefits and unique selling points.

Negotiation & Closing: Strategize with the Management Team ways to close deals that create win-win partnerships with retail accounts. 

Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with retail clients, ensuring repeat business, satisfaction, and increased sales volume over time. 

Quality Control: When applicable, make in-person visits to retail stores to ensure products are being merchandised correctly and in the best position to sell. 

Sales Reporting: Maintain detailed records of sales activity, prospect pipeline, and client interactions in our company’s shared Google Drive. Provide regular sales performance updates to ownership.

Market Insights: Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor products, and retail market needs to inform your sales strategy and product positioning.

Occasional Travel: Travel to meet with prospective clients, attend trade shows, or conduct product demonstrations (as necessary and depending on location).

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of proven sales experience, preferably in retail, consumer goods, baby and/or children's products.

  • Demonstrates ability to meet or exceed sales targets in a commission-based role.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple client accounts effectively.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a strong drive to succeed and build a book of business.

  • Knowledge or experience with baby and child products is a plus, but not required.

  • Must have reliable computer, internet access and a dedicated workspace to manage remote work.

  • Must have reliable vehicle for in-person visits or meetings.

  • Commission-Based: Earnings are commission-driven, allowing you to earn based on sales performance. You control your income.

  • Mileage Compensation: Reimbursement for mileage used to travel to and from accounts. 

  • Meeting Compensation: Base compensation for any required meetings, including team check-ins, 1:1 meetings, or in-person client meetings, as dictated by management.
